Volunteering PSA video! (AVI format; 8.8MB)
Without our volunteers the Perc simply couldn’t exist. Volunteers make it all happen, from producing the Peace and Environment News to writing the bylaws, they are the Perc’s mind, body and soul.
At the PERC, we seek to create and maintain an atmosphere that is supportive, creative, and challenging. To achieve this atmosphere we follow the TSSL guide:
T- Task S- Support S- Social L- Learning
Volunteering here is a rewarding experience. You will meet people who share your similar concerns, interest and ideologies. You will learn the best ways to take effective action, learn computer , management, fundraising, volunteer coordination and media relations skills, plus many more. The only limitation is how willing we are to take advantage of the opportunities.
The PERC can accommodate volunteers with many different skills, interests and backgrounds. We try to encourage each person's strengths and situation, and to shape volunteer opportunities that suit their needs and abilities. The PERC is here to get you involved!
The Peace and Environment Resource Centre is unusual in many respects. We are a relatively large organization by Non-Governmental Organization standards, huge in terms of volunteer standards. Many organizations use large numbers of volunteers, but they tend to have even more paid "staff" hours than volunteer hours. At the PERC the ratio of staff to volunteer hours is about 1:20. We know of no other organization that is like this.
